We were supposed to have brioche rolls for tea To put the burgers in Three evenings a week we have meals That arrive at our house in a big, red box I put the fridge things away first Obviously But there was no clear place to put the brioche So I put it somewhere else
It’s been a funny day I tried rather helplessly to load ‘Teams’ Or to open it on the laptop (first choice) Or the iPad (second choice) But it would only open on my phone By which time the nice doctor Said I was fifteen minutes late And we might not have enough time For him to tell me how bad My inattentiveness is I rather thought I’d given him a heads up What to expect
And I had been going to lend to my mum The dvd of Northanger Abbey That I had been raving about Then it turned out It wasn’t in the dvd case And it wasn’t in any of the other dvd cases Or in the stack of dvds that Have no case at all
It was in a case somewhere I should think It’s a good film so I’d have put it in a case Whichever was nearest Nice and safe Not something that could be said for the brioche buns Whose whereabouts May never be discovered
At least there were inferior bread rolls In the freezer So tea was quite lovely in the end The burgers turned out very well And I didn’t forget Even for a moment That I was supposed to be cooking them
