Hello you,
sitting at the back, in case you are suddenly overwhelmed,
I'd like to let you know that
I see you.
Not in a starey, make-you-freak-out-and-leave-even-sooner
kind of way,
or in a Sauron and the seeing stones that Pippin picked up
when he shouldn't have kind of way,
I mean - it's ok.
You don't feel like you're properly "in",
you have your headphones on
and you don't seem entirely at ease
but you're here
and that matters.
And if you leave before the end
and can't say goodbye,
that's ok too.
We know you were here -
and for what it's worth
we're glad of it.
I wonder what music you listen to
as you sit there?
Perhaps one day we can listen to it together,
if you like.
Belonging doesn't mean we all have to look and think the same.
I do know what the view is like
from where you sit.
