Beginnings
I was born in 1974 in Stockport, Cheshire. I was raised in a Christian home by my wonderful parents, Carol and Ralph. Then in 1981, my sister Kathryn arrived on the scene. It was a happy childhood.

Growing up
I went to school in Lincoln and then Northampton, moving with Dad’s job. I studied in Cambridge for my degree in English and French. Then afterwards went to London to train to be a teacher.
Family
In 2002, I married Darren. For the first eleven years of our life together we lived near to Lincoln, very close to where I had lived as a child. That part of the world is very special to me.
We now have two wonderful children, who are going through mainstream school but experience neurological differences. They never cease to astonish us with their capabilities in spite of their challenges. They are clever and quirky and we laugh a lot.

And poetry
I have always loved literature, foreign languages and creative writing. We seem to be a family who love words, with a number of us enjoying writing. My Dad’s father, Hubert, wrote poetry throughout his life, and I think this is something that I have inherited from him. I had a good role model in him for creating verse that others could enjoy.
