I have had the covid this week, in all the humidity. Some days are just about the waiting….
Waiting for the cool air to return
And bring a breeze
Waiting for the chance to sleep again
With much more ease
Waiting for a dawning light to cheer
The heavy heart
For the day that brings an end
To all our time apart
Waiting for the working years to cease
To find some rest
Wait again for Advent
And the days that we love best
Waiting, always waiting
Like a long and endless room
Wait again to hear them call your name
Above the gloom
But if I wait for all of this
How can I cope?
If all of life’s a waiting game
Where is the hope?
Or is it in the waiting rooms of life
That we can find
Someone who stepped in beside us here
Who didn’t mind
Who stood inside the darkness of this world
To take my place?
Who put on human form with all its pain
To bring us grace?
Who cast a glow around us evermore
A fervent light
To bring eternal joy to those
Who dwell in darkest night
Matthew 4.16 “The people living in darkness have seen a great light, and for those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.”
